Sad News: Caleb Willingham, Former Spouse of TLC's '1000-Lb. Sisters' Star, Passes Away at Age 40

It is with great sorrow that we share the news of Caleb Willingham’s passing. Caleb was the former husband of Amy Slaton, one of the stars of TLC’s reality show ‘1000-Lb. Sisters’. He died on June 30, 2023, at his home in Kentucky. He was 40 years old.

Caleb and Amy met online and got married in 2016. They appeared together on the first season of ‘1000-Lb. Sisters’, which documented Amy and her sister Tammy’s journey to lose weight and qualify for bariatric surgery. Caleb supported Amy throughout her weight loss journey and celebrated with her when she achieved her goal and underwent surgery in 2019.

However, their marriage was not without challenges. Amy and Caleb had different views on having children, as Amy wanted to start a family while Caleb was hesitant. They also faced criticism from some viewers who accused Caleb of being abusive and controlling towards Amy. In 2020, they announced their divorce on social media, citing irreconcilable differences.

Despite their split, Amy and Caleb remained friends and co-parented their dog, Little Bit. Amy also found love again with Michael Halterman, whom she married in 2021. They welcomed their first child, a son named Gage, in March 2022.

Caleb’s cause of death has not been revealed yet, but his family and friends have expressed their grief and condolences on social media. Amy also posted a tribute to her ex-husband on Instagram, writing: “I’m heartbroken to hear about Caleb’s passing. He was a good man and a good friend. We had our ups and downs, but we always cared for each other. I’m praying for his family and friends during this difficult time. Rest in peace, Caleb.”

Caleb is survived by his parents, two brothers, a sister, and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on July 5, 2023, at the First Baptist Church in Lexington, Kentucky. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Association in his name.
